In a move to unite and strengthen the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Igbo-Etiti council area of Enugu State, one of the eminent party leaders in the area, Hon Chidera Nwodo, has rallied the party faithful and people of the local government to give maximum support to the newly elected PDP Chairmanship Candidate, Dr Eric Odo.
Hon Nwodo, who made the call on Wednesday at Ogbede, headquarters of the council area, shortly after the party’s primary election, expressed his unalloyed support, loyalty and allegiance to the state governor, Barr Peter Ndubuisi Mbah.
While addressing his supporters who trooped out in numbers, Nwodo vowed to mobilize both electoral and financial supports for the chairmanship candidate and his deputy to emerge victorious.
He said the party had in its wisdom spoken on the choice of who to represent the people, urging supporters to unite and deliver the candidates at a date fixed by the Enugu State Electoral Service Commission, ENSIEC.
“Our great party, the Peoples Democratic Party, has spoken. The decision is welcomed by me and our people, and I want to assure our support for the party and the candidates.
“Let me use this opportunity to thank our Governor, His Excellency, Dr Peter Mbah, for ensuring a peaceful, ranchor-free process. We will continue to work and support his administration,” he noted.
Asked why he stopped his supporters from protesting, Nwodo said that the decision of the party was final and that everyone cannot be chosen as candidate of the party for the local government at the same time.
“My ambition does not worth anyone’s blood. We must support anyone that the party threw up. That I couldn’t clinch the ticket now does not mean that there are no other opportunities. I will not only support Dr Eric Ogbonna Odo, I will mobilize for his election through community engagement, logistic mobilization and other support that we could provide,” he added.
Speaking further, Nwodo reaffirmed his unwavering loyalty and allegiance to the State Governor, pledging to work tirelessly in advancing the governor’s development agenda and the party’s interests across the state.
Nwodo’s efforts and spirit of sportsmanship have been received by his mammoth supporters with enthusiasm and optimism promising that they would do everything to deliver the candidates.
With Nwodo’s influence and dedication, the PDP is poised for a resounding victory in the upcoming local government elections, further solidifying the party’s dominance in Enugu State.
