Man Arrested With 350 Wraps Of Cocaine With Street Value Of ₦2.3 billion At Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja By NDLEA

A Nigerian, Okey Eze, who claims to be a tiller by profession, has been arrested by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja with 350 wraps of cocaine with a street value of over ₦2.3 billion!

The 38-year-old was arrested on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 during an inward clearance of passengers on an Ethiopian airline flight en route Bamako-Addis Ababa- Abuja.

The illicit drugs, weighing 7.70kilograms, were concealed in eight packs tucked in different parts of his luggage.

In his confession, Eze, who resides in the Malian capital Bamako, claimed he was in possession of the drugs because he needed to raise money to take care of his late elder brother’s four children.

He also claimed he asked his friend who is resident in Brazil to assist him with some money but the friend instead told him to pick up a bag with the drugs from someone in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia for a fee of ₦500,000 on successful delivery to someone whose contact would be sent to him on arrival in Nigeria.

He also claimed the bag containing the drugs was given to him on Wednesday morning at Addis Ababa airport.
