The Nsukka LGA Chapter of The Enugu State Forum of PDP Ward Chairmen on Tuesday, 12th April, 2022, presented a communique arising from the meeting they held.
Rising from a meeting of all the PDP Ward Chairmen in Nsukka LGA, held at the premises of Adada Hall, Nsukka, on Monday, the 11th of April, 2022, we, the Nsukka LGA PDP Ward Chairmen, after a critical review of the ugly and ungodly incident that took place during the April 2022 edition of our great party’s monthly meeting, held at our Local Government Area Party Secretariat, hereby, resolve as follows:
1. That, we, the PDP Ward Chairmen in Nsukka LGA, condemn in the strongest of terms, the show of shame displayed by thugs suspected to be hirelings of Rt. Hon. Dr. Patrick Asadu, Member, Representing Nsukka/Igbo-Eze South Federal Constituency during our April, 2022 meeting held on Saturday, 9th April, 2022.
2. That, the barberic incident which led to the physical attack and slapping of Dr. Oscar Ejike Ugwoke, an #Obukpa Ward born-aspirant to the office of Member, Representing Nsukka/Igbo-Eze South Federal Constituency in the forthcoming 2023 general election, destruction of chairs, canopies and other material and the subsequent stampede that got our party members including mothers, injured, is totally unacceptable, condemnable and ‘unNsukka’;
3. That, following the trauma that followed the incident, our lives, the lives of other delegates of our great party and other party executives whom we mobilized to the meeting, and indeed, the lives of the generality of members of our great party in Nsukka LGA, were terribly threatened;
4. That, we are no longer safe in our own LGA.
5. That, we condemn in superlative terms, the complimentary roles played by the Nsukka LGA Party Chairman, Rt. Hon. Fabian Onah, whose disposition and conduct during the meeting aided the activities of the hoodlums.
6. That, we are greatly surprised that since Saturday, the 9th of April, day, the ugly event took place, till date, there has been no official statement from the office of the Executive Chairman of Nsukka LGA, Hon. Barr. Walter Ozioko, condemning the dastardly act.
7. That, the conspiracy of silence and circumspect posture exhibited by the Executive leadership of Nsukka LGA, is totally unacceptable as it is capable of encouraging and fueling more brazen braggadocios that threaten and may eventually harm our lives.
8. That, we shall send a distress call of ‘Save Our Soul’, (SOS), to the leader of our great party in Enugu State, His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Enugu State and the State Chairman of the PDP, Hon. Augustine Nnamani that they may know how deeply in danger our lives have become in Nsukka/Igbo-Eze South Federal Constituency due to the power drunkenness of our representative who, rather than protect us in appreciation of the rare privilege of four tenures he has enjoyed, has turned our major threat.
9. That, no amount of threat to our lives, intimidation and brigandage from Rt. Hon. Patrick Asadu, who is in a bid to return to the Federal House of Representatives for a record 5th term, or from any other contestant, can dissuade us from carrying out our basic duties as party men.
10. That, Rt. Hon. Dr. Pat Asadu, should, in the spirit of justice, equity, and fairness, remember the gentleman agreement between Nsukka and Igbo-Eze South LGAs, brokered prelude to the 2007 general elections by the then Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency, Senator Chimaroke Nnamani, of which Rt. Hon. Dr. Pat Asadu became the beneficiary;
11. That, in view of that agreement, Rt. Hon. Dr. Pat Asadu should jettison his 5th term agendum which has raised the political tension within the Constituency to palpable heights; to enable peace reign.
12. That, Rt. Hon. Dr. Patrick Asadu should tender an unreserved apology to Hon. Dr. Ejike Oscar Ugwoke who was brutally attacked during the said meeting and to the teeming members of our great party whose sensibilities were violently raped before our next meeting;
13. Lastly, that we remain loyal to the person and office of His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Dr. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the Executive Governor of Enugu State and will obey his political decisions build up to 2023 elections and beyond.
