In a momentous announcement, Barr Ugo Ferdinand Ukwueze, a distinguished legal practitioner, farmer, and community leader, has unveiled his manifesto tagged “8-Point PROGRESS Agenda for Igbo-Eze South Local Government Area.”
Mr. Ukwueze, a native of Umulolo Ward in Ekete Development Centre, presented his transformative vision to the people, outlining a clear plan aimed at grassroots development, youth empowerment, and infrastructural growth.
During the unveiling of his manifesto, Ukwueze emphasized his deep commitment to the people, stating, “I present myself to you with passion, patriotism, and humility, subject to God’s will and the support of my beloved people.” His agenda, encapsulated in the acronym PROGRESS, addresses critical areas for the local government’s growth, including youth employment, education, security, agriculture, and community development.
Highlights of the 8-Point PROGRESS Agenda include:
1. Pioneering Youth Empowerment and Employment – Establishment of skill development centres across the LGA to equip youths with digital and vocational skills.
2. Revolutionizing Education – Infrastructure upgrades and digital integration into local schools, while ensuring every child of school age is enrolled and provided with scholarships.
3. Optimizing Security – Strengthening local security forces through community policing and partnerships with law enforcement agencies.
4. Growing Communities with Essential Amenities – Ensuring access to clean water, reliable electricity, and well-maintained roads for all communities.

5. Revitalizing Health – Enhancing primary health centres, promoting disease prevention, and establishing community health insurance.
6. Enhancing Agriculture for Food Security – Launch of “Operation Food for All” to boost agricultural production and market access.
7. Strengthening Sports Excellence – Promotion of sports, especially football, to foster talent and community growth.
8. Sustaining the Environment– Promoting eco-consciousness, proper waste management, and revitalizing local tourism.
Barr Ugo Ferdinand Ukwueze’s PROGRESS Agenda is backed by detailed strategies for sustainable financing, focusing on mobilizing the elite, improving tax collection, tourism development, and fostering local industries.
Dr Fide Odo, legal Adviser PDP Enugu and a former Mayor applauded the Flagbearer noting that an Eldorado is possible in Igboeze South LG.
The Igboeze South Party Chairman, Hon Ejike Amedu displayed a high level of optimism in the capacity and personality of the incoming to deliver as always.
Other Stakeholders that like Engr Ajibo, Hon Okpoi, Dr Udaya and other distinguished contributors also expressed optimism.
The Honourable Commissioner for Special Duties in his closing remark was so elated and indeed tomorrow is here for ndi Igboeze South LG.
He concluded by calling on the people of Igbo-Eze South for their support, saying, “Together, we can ensure a brighter future for Igbo-Eze South, where progress is felt in every community and by every family.”
